Hey Prolite Family,
Here’s a thought for those of you trolling with 360 flashers in the Columbia River (and possibly in coastal fisheries across Oregon and Washington). Ever notice that when you're trying to fish down deep and let more line out, your line angle flattens—especially when trolling against the current? I believe it’s because your 360 flasher is creating lift, much like an airplane wing. As it rotates, it lifts your gear, preventing it from getting deep, no matter how much line you let out.
The fix? Heavier lead—18, 20, or even 24 ounces—can help fight against that lift and get your bait down to where the fish are.
I’d love to hear from you! Have you noticed this in your own fishing? Got any tips or tricks that have worked for you? Drop your feedback and thoughts—I’m all ears!
Tight lines,
Chris Wegeleben
