Frequently Asked Questions
Prolite Rod Technology builds performance fishing rods for serious anglers. Below are answers to common questions about ordering, custom builds, pricing, timelines, warranty coverage, and support.
Buying & Custom Builds
What makes Prolite different from factory rods?
Factory rods are optimized for mass production. Prolite rods are optimized for performance. Every custom build is intentionally configured for a specific technique, blank platform, and application. Balance, guide spacing, handle layout, and component selection are tuned for how you fish.
How does the Custom Build process work?
Start with a rod platform that matches your technique. A Custom Build Reservation secures your position in our build lineup and includes one-on-one consultation.
You review and approve the final specifications and total price before production begins. No remaining balance is collected until your build is confirmed.

Are custom rods refundable?
Custom rods are built specifically to your order and are final sale once fulfilled. If a verified defect in workmanship is present, remedies are governed by our Craftsmanship Warranty.
Pricing & Value
How is pricing determined?
Pricing reflects blank selection, rod length, component choices, and precision build labor.
- Longer rods require more material and build time.
- Premium components adjust pricing by cost difference.
- You approve final pricing before production begins.
No hidden fees.
Build Timeline
How long does a custom build take?
Most builds are completed within 2 to 4 weeks after final specification approval. Timelines may extend slightly during peak season.
Warranty & Repairs
What does the Prolite Craftsmanship Warranty cover?
The Craftsmanship Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship related to the build and assembly work performed by Prolite.
- Guide installation failures caused by construction defects
- Bonding failures in handles or reel seats due to build error
- Structural failures directly attributable to workmanship
What is not covered under warranty?
- Impact damage or accidental breakage
- Misuse or abuse
- High-sticking or excessive loading beyond intended rating
- Transport damage
- Unauthorized modification or repair
- Normal wear or cosmetic aging
What is high-sticking?
High-sticking occurs when excessive load is applied to the upper third of the rod at a sharp angle. This places stress beyond the rodβs intended rating and may result in breakage.
Who pays shipping for warranty evaluation?
Customers are responsible for shipping the rod to Prolite for evaluation. If a workmanship defect is confirmed, remedies are handled in accordance with our warranty policy.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Submit your request through our Warranty and Repair Request page with photos and a description.
Shipping & Risk
When does responsibility transfer to the buyer?
All shipments are made FOB Shipping Point. Responsibility transfers once the shipment is accepted by the carrier.
What if my package is damaged during shipping?
Carrier damage claims must be filed directly with the shipping provider. If you believe the issue is a product defect rather than transit damage, use the Warranty Request page.
