Looking for a Memorial Fishing Rod?
This page is the $199 Memorial Build Initiation Kit that starts a custom memorial fishing rod build — including builds with optional ash inlay. If you're new here, start with the memorial fishing rods page to see pricing, the build process, and how custom fishing rods with ashes come together.
Start Your Memorial Fishing Rod Build.
This Initiation Kit begins the process for a custom memorial fishing rod — a handcrafted rod that carries someone's name, their water, and their memory forward. Optional ash inlay can be respectfully incorporated during the custom build.
What the $199 Initiation Kit Includes
Everything to start your custom memorial fishing rod — the urn kit with a prepaid return label, the consultation, and the design kickoff with your builder.
Urn Kit & Prepaid Return Label Ship to You
A custom mini urn is mailed to your home with a prepaid return label. Keep a portion close in the urn, and send a small portion back to your builder to be respectfully incorporated into the finished rod — every step handled with care.
One-on-One Memorial Consultation
Your dedicated Prolite builder calls within 1 business day to hear the story — the person, the water they loved, and what you want this memorial fishing rod to mean.
Personalized Design Kickoff
Together you design every detail — blank, wraps, engraving, components, and any memorial detail. Your builder sends an itemized quote for approval before anything is ordered.
What Happens After You Purchase
Your builder leads every step. You approve at every stage.

Before You Commit
What to know about this step.
You approve everything before the rod is built.
Your builder sends a full spec sheet and itemized quote. You review every detail — blank, wraps, engraving, components, price. Nothing is ordered and no final payment is taken until you give the green light.
Ash inlay is part of the custom rod build, not this Initiation Kit.
If you want a custom fishing rod with ashes, your builder walks you through the inlay approach during the design consultation. A small portion of ashes can be respectfully inlaid into the epoxy of the finished memorial fishing rod, handled with care and discussed in advance.
Other personalizations the builder can work in.
Beyond engraving and wraps, your builder can also incorporate their handwritten signature or a short note, GPS coordinates of their favorite water on the butt cap, a meaningful small object cast into the epoxy (a fly they tied, a piece of a favorite lure, a feather), or a fingerprint engraved or cast into the reel seat. These are finalized together on the consult call — your builder will walk you through what is possible and what will feel right for the rod.
Your builder is a real person.
Every memorial fishing rod is led by a Prolite builder in Olympia, WA. You will have their direct contact. This is a conversation, not a checkout flow.
Memorial Build Initiation Kit FAQs
Quick answers about the Initiation Kit, the final rod, and how the process works.
Is this the full price of the memorial rod?
No. The $199 Memorial Build Initiation Kit covers the urn kit with a prepaid return label, your one-on-one consultation, and the design kickoff with your builder. The finished custom memorial fishing rod is quoted and purchased separately after your consultation.
Does the Initiation Kit apply to the final rod cost?
No. The $199 Initiation Kit is separate from and does not apply toward the final rod cost. Most memorial fishing rods land between $500 and $900, depending on blank, components, engraving, ash inlay, and personalization.
What does the Initiation Kit include?
An urn kit shipped to your home with a prepaid return label so a small portion of ashes can be sent back for inlay, a one-on-one memorial build consultation with a Prolite builder, and a personalized design kickoff where you map out the rod together.
Can ashes be added to the rod?
Yes. A small portion of ashes can be respectfully inlaid into the epoxy of the finished memorial fishing rod during the custom build. The exact approach is planned with your builder during the consultation. Ash inlay is part of the custom rod build, not the Initiation Kit itself.
What happens after I purchase?
Your dedicated Prolite builder reaches out within 1 business day. Your mini urn ships to your home. You and your builder hold a memorial consultation to talk through the person, the water, and the rod direction. Your custom rod is quoted and approved. Final build enters production (4–6 weeks of handcraft in Olympia, WA).
What if I'm not sure what I want yet?
You don't have to start with the Initiation Kit. Talk to a builder first — we can answer questions about the process, the ash inlay, pricing, or anything else before you commit. You can also read more about memorial fishing rods to see how we build them.
