Memorial Rod Service

A rod that carries them forward.

The Memorial Rod Service begins a handcrafted memorial fishing rod — one that holds a name, the water they loved, and their memory. Ashes can be respectfully incorporated during the build, if you wish.

What's included

What the $199 Memorial Rod Service includes

Everything needed to begin — your memorial kit (a small urn for about a tablespoon of ashes, a padded return envelope, and a prepaid shipping label), a one-on-one consultation, and the design kickoff with your builder.

1

Memorial kit & prepaid return label

A small urn — sized for about a tablespoon of ashes — is mailed to your home with a padded return envelope and a prepaid shipping label. Keep a portion close, and send a small portion back to your builder to be respectfully incorporated into the finished rod.

2

One-on-one consultation

Your dedicated Prolite builder calls within one business day to hear the story — the person, the water they loved, and what you want this rod to mean.

3

Personalized design kickoff

Together you design every detail — blank, wraps, engraving, components, and any memorial element. You receive an itemized quote for approval before anything is ordered.

From the bench
“Every memorial rod is built by hand, by a real person who has heard your story. We don't rush them, and nothing leaves the bench until it feels right.”

$500–$900 typical custom memorial rod

The $199 Memorial Rod Service is a separate, non-refundable purchase from the custom rod — it can be added to a new build or a rod you already own.

You approve everything before the rod is built.

Your builder sends a full spec sheet and itemized quote. You review every detail — blank, wraps, engraving, components, price. Nothing is ordered until you give the green light.

Ash inlay is part of the custom build, not the $199 step.

If you want a rod with ashes, your builder walks you through the inlay approach during the consultation. A small portion can be respectfully inlaid into the epoxy of the finished rod, handled with care.

Other personalizations your builder can work in.

A handwritten signature or short note, GPS coordinates of a favorite water on the butt cap, a meaningful small object cast into the epoxy, or a fingerprint in the reel seat. Finalized together on the consult call.

Your builder is a real person.

Every memorial rod is led by a Prolite builder in Olympia, WA. You'll have their direct contact. This is a conversation, not a checkout flow.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this the full price of the memorial rod?
No. The $199 covers your memorial kit (a small urn for about a tablespoon of ashes, a padded return envelope, and a prepaid shipping label), your consultation, and your design kickoff. If you're building a new rod, that rod is quoted separately after your consultation.
Is the memorial treatment separate from the rod?
Yes. The memorial treatment is purchased separately from the custom rod because it can be added to a new build or a rod you already own. Most memorial rods land between $500 and $900, depending on blank, components, engraving, ash inlay, and personalization.
Can ashes be added to the rod?
Yes. A small portion can be respectfully inlaid into the epoxy of the finished rod during the custom build. The exact approach is planned with your builder during the consultation.
What happens after I purchase?
Your builder reaches out within one business day. Your urn kit ships. You hold a consultation to talk through the person and the rod. Your rod is quoted and approved, then enters production (4–6 weeks of handcraft in Olympia, WA).
What if I'm not sure what I want yet?
You don't have to start here. Talk to a builder first — we can answer questions about the process, ash inlay, or pricing before you commit. You can also read more about memorial fishing rods.
